Rate Increase in Water Rates

Norwood residents may have noticed a slight uptick in their water bills last month. As of July, 1, 2020, the Town of Norwood raised local water and sewer rates. For average usage, those rates are now $3.57 per ccf for water and $9.34 per ccf for sewer services.

The town of Norwood purchases its water/sewer utilities through the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). The costs passed on to local consumers of operating the state-sponsored water and sewer system is approximately 75%-85%. The town is assessed based largely on volume. The previous calendar year assessments are adjusted on July 1, the beginning of Norwood’s fiscal year. The remaining cost evaluations are based on maintaining the local water system and infrastructure to Norwood homes, companies, and streets. The recent increaseand streamlined new look.
