Norwood Actress Starring in Disenchanted!

Fairy tales always start with ‘Once upon a time,” and end with ‘they lived happily ever after.’ But is that really true? The Walpole Footlighters production of Disenchanted!, with books, music, and lyrics by Dennis Giacino, starts with the assumption that those ‘happily ever afters’ aren’t so happy.

A parade of pulchritudinous princesses from the original stories and the “House of Mouse” movie adaptations fill the audience in on what really happened after the story ended. Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Rapunzel, and many more each have a tale of woe to deliver in song and dance.

Norwood actress Kellyn Martin makes her Footlighters debut in the role of Sleeping Beauty, one of the three hostesses of the show. Martin joined the production after hearing about it from another cast member she’d worked with at another theater.

“This show takes the generally accepted notions about princesses and sheds light on their absurdity, in a very comedic way,” Martin said. “Whether you love princesses or find them ridiculous, this show is for you! The show and the music are funny to begin with, but this cast brings them to life in a way that will have the audience laughing nonstop!”
