Art in the Park is Back!

After a two-year break, the Norwood Art Association is excited to announce that the Annual Art in the Park has returned to the Norwood Town Common! The event, now in its 45th year, will take place Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Over 100 pieces of artwork created by talented local and regional artists will be displayed and judged. Their categories include oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, mixed media, photography, and drawing. Also included in the event will be artisan tables with textile, glasswork, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, clothing, artwork, and wood. Around the gazebo you can view and purchase the very popular bin work including unframed originals, photographs, and prints created by the artists.
Admission is FREE and the show will be judged by a professional artist, with ribbons awarded in each category and the coveted Best of Show.
To entertain and encourage tomorrow’s artists, there will be a Kids’ Table with projects and face painting. Attendees will also be able to enjoy live acoustic music by a local musician! In addition, folks will have a chance to meet the winner of the NAA’s Inez Reardon Memorial Scholarship in honor of the late Inez Reardon, one of the founding members of the Norwood Art Association. This scholarship is presented annually to a graduating Norwood High School student furthering their education in the Arts. The presentation will take place around noon.
Since its inception in the 1970’s, the Norwood Art Association has been a cultural asset for the Town of Norwood, with the support of town officials, the public, and grants from the Boch Fund and the Mass. and Norwood Cultural Councils.   An invitation is extended to all who love the arts to join the group.   One does not need to be an artist or even reside in Norwood to become a member, just have an interest in the arts and being a part of the growing and thriving Norwood artist community. The NAA is always in need of volunteers of all kinds to assist with planning, setting up and carrying out of many important duties and fun activities throughout the year. Please visit their website at norwoodartassociation.com or check them out on Meta (Facebook)  for additional information.
In the event of rain, the show will be held on Sunday, June 12th, but the NAA is hoping for sunny skies and lots of art lovers, browsers and buyers to help celebrate the 45th anniversary of this annual occasion to be held during the year of Norwood’s 150 Celebration!
