Norwood Actress Starring in “The Humans”
The Blake family is gathering for Thanksgiving dinner at the dilapidated New York apartment of daughter Brigid and her fiancé Richard. Brigid’s parents Erik and Deirdre have driven in from Scranton with Erik’s wheelchair-bound mother Momo for the occasion, and Brigid’s sister Aimee will also be there. Everyone in the family has their own drama and is trying to decide whether and when to share. Even though they are surrounded by love, real-life events can take control over emotions and test a family’s strength. The 2016 Tony Award winner for Best Play, the family drama The Humans, by Stephen Karam, is now playing at the Walpole Footlighters 99th season. The production is directed by Cammerron Baits.
Walpole actress Ninette Cummings is the only Footlighters veteran in the cast. A recent transplant from Norwood, Ninette has worked in numerous Footlighters productions both onstage and backstage over the last 25 years. She’s playing the role of Momo, the Blake family matriarch, whom Ninette said, “holds the family together, and who is the recipient of the family’s unconditional love.” Ninette added that, “the audience may see a lot of themselves in this poignant drama.”
