Celebrate the 4th of July early at the Norwood Farmers Market! In addition to all the great vendors, food, and crafts, stop by in the afternoon for special events and giveaways! Meet your neighbors, purchase a fresh dinner, celebrate, and have some fun!

Patriotic Rosary
Norwood Town Common
1 p.m.
Everyone is invited to celebrate God and country and pray for the military, living and dead, police officers, our firefighters, government officials, and each person in all 50 states. Sing along patriotic songs that concludes with taps to remember those who have given their lives in the service of America. Bringing a chair is recommended. In case of rain, the event will be held in St. Catherine of Siena Church, diagonally across from the Common. For more information, call 781-762-4391.

After decades of dreaming, a quartet of older women, who are dedicated football fans, finally decides to make a pilgrimage to the Super Bowl for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet their favorite player, noteworthy NFL mainstay Tom Brady. All About Nancy Drew w/ Collector & Superfan Alicia Mello

Learn about the history of the beloved sleuth Nancy Drew. Discover the many different editions of Nancy Drew that have been printed since the first book came out in the 1930s. Learn facts about this beloved series, be able to ask questions, and reminisce about your childhood in the company of other Nancy Drew fans. Frog and Turtle Soapmaking Kids’ Class

Explore the world of soap creation using glycerin-based soap. Each participant will have the opportunity to craft their own unique and fragrant soapy creation. With a variety of vibrant colors, enchanting glitter, and scents, the possibilities are endless. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a 3 oz. soap, complete with a delightful 2” frog or turtle rubber toy. For ages 8-12. This is not a drop-off class. Financial Planning Considerations in an Election Year

Teen Summer Candle Workshop

This fun, teen candle-making workshop will explore the various types of candles and discover which waxes are best suited for each type! The class will teach about the importance of selecting the correct wick sizes and heat resistant container sizes to ensure optimal burning experience, and knowing the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils.  As a bonus, each participant will have the opportunity to craft their own captivating summer container candle to take home using high-quality soy wax, fragrant oils, and even a charming surprise. Author Talk: James L Parr on “WWII Massachusetts”

Join retired teacher, historian, and local author Jim Parr to hear all about his book, World War II Massachusetts, a collection of stories that could well be subtitled “The Hidden History of the War in the Bay State.” The book is filled with unusual and forgotten tales of ordinary citizens doing their part to support the war effort. Grandparents, moms and dads, school kids, and even the family pet worked and sacrificed as the country suffered through blackouts, shortages, rationing, and uncertainty. Jim will give a one-hour slide presentation with fascinating images, highlighting the strange events and forgotten heroes of this unique time in American history. Monthly Ballroom Dance

The Friends of the Norwood Council on Aging will be sponsoring their monthly Ballroom Dance, on Friday, July 19. Music will be provided by “Play It Again.” Cost is $12 per person, and will include coffee, tea, desserts, and water. There will also be door prizes! Newcomers of all ages are welcome. This fundraiser for Charley’s Angels Pet Initiative will be selling gently used and new cat and dog supplies, including leashes, collars, harnesses, clothes, toys, and grooming supplies. Even those who do not own a pet, the event will also be selling household items, knick-knacks, and more! All proceeds donated to the non-profit organization. Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals

Meet the author and illustrator of Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals, an award-winning STEM picture book based on and informed by real-world veterinarians. Jennifer, the author, and Rozillia, the illustrator, will first tell the story behind the story of Dr. Rosie and then engage kids in an interactive reading. Following the reading will be a hands-on activity where kids (and their grownups) diagnose and treat a stuffy.  Each participant will receive a mini vet kit and diagnostic/treatment sheet to take home. *Have your child bring a stuffed animal from home to practice their vet skills on!
