Learn everything about Norwood? A great idea! But how? Where? The best place would be at Norwood 101, the New Resident Open House! Each spring, the Morrill Memorial Library hosts this new resident welcome program to introduce and educate newcomers (and often long-timers) on volunteer opportunities, town and non-profit organizations, and to meet civic personnel.

Norwood 101 will be held on Monday, April 14, 6-8 p.m., (drop in), at the Morrill Memorial Library. The guest list includes Town of Norwood representatives and officials, municipal departments and community and non-profit organizations. Their mission? To welcome and answer any questions new residents (owners and renters) may have. Basically, learn everything about what’s going on around town!

New residents can take this opportunity to meet members of Norwood’s police and fire departments, selectmen, representatives from Norwood Light Broadband, the Health Department, and the Council on Aging. Organizations such as the Norwood Evening Garden Club, Norwood Trails Committee, Old Parish Preservation Volunteers,  the Norfolk County DA’s Office, the Norwood Food Pantry, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, Neponset Valley Humane Society, Women’s Community Council, League of Women Voters, Friends of the Morrill Memorial Library, and many more!

Visitors will also have the opportunity to view and learn everything about the Morrill Memorial Library and the abundance of interesting and valuable resources and services this local gem has to offer. That also includes meeting the knowledgeable library staff and how they can help in a variety of areas!

“One room will be for town officials, departments, one room for community groups, and the library departments will also be showcased on the second floor bringing attention to our ever growing "Library of Things" collection,” Technical Service Specialist and Norwood 101 organizer Patty Bailey said.

Registration is not required, but the first registered 30 registered attendees will receive a welcome swag bag and free raffles will be donated by local businesses. Once Local Bank is also returning as the event sponsor. To register, visit www.norwoodlibrary.org/morrillcalendar/, or call the reference desk at 781-769-0200, x2.

If you are new to town or would like to find out more about the wonderful Town of Norwood and what it offers it residents, this event is for you!
