Norwood’s Memorial Day Schedule

The Town of Norwood will be hosting activities dedicated to celebrating Memorial Day on Saturday, May 24 and Monday, May 26. All Norwood residents are invited to the events to help remember those who died in active military service.
The Norwood Department of Veteran Services coordinates the Memorial Day weekend ceremonies, beginning with placing the American flags on the graves of Norwood Veterans on Saturday, May 24, at Highland Cemetery. Volunteers are welcome to assist in the effort and can receive more information from Director of Veteran Services office at 781-762-1240.
The ceremonies on Memorial Day, May 26, will begin with a memorial service at Saint Catherine of Siena Church. The American flag on the Town Common will then be placed at half-staff. Ceremonies will be held at the Old Parish Cemetery, followed by the Memorial Day parade which will end at Highland Cemetery for a commemorative ceremony.
Saturday, May 24
Decorate the graves of Norwood›s Veterans with American flags at 8 a.m., at Highland Cemetery
Monday, May 26
Memorial service at 8 a.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Church
Flag raising at 9:30 a.m., at Norwood Town Common. Flags placed at half mast
Parade groups muster at 9:30 a.m., at Old Parish Cemetery (the rear of 480 Washington Street)
Parade steps off at 10 a.m., at the corner of Washington and Howard Streets to Highland Cemetery
Ceremonies and observances at 11 a.m., Highland Cemetery following the parade
