Norwood Farmers Market

Town Common 

2-6 p.m. 

The Norwood Farmers Market officially opens for the season! The town common will be hopping with even more vendors than last year, including farm stands, bakeries, fish, meat, baseball cards, non-profit organizations, specialty foods, artisans, and more! There will be games for the kids and music. Meet your neighbors, purchase a fresh dinner, and have some fun!

Together Tales with Ms. Gloria

Poirer Village Center, 82 Roosevelt Ave.

10 a.m.

Join a weekly bilingual story hour in English and Spanish. Ms. Gloria will lead the group in multilingual stories, songs, and crafts. This program is open to ALL and is a great first exposure to a new language!

Summerfest Concert

There could be no other musical choice to kick off the 2025 Summerfest Concert series than the Legacy of Paul Aberta Jazz Orchestra.

Patriotic Rosary

Norwood Town Common

1 p.m.

Join others to pray the beautiful Patriotic Rosary for the country. They will pray for all the souls in each of our 50 states as well as the military, past and present, living and dead, police and firefighters, and government officials.  Come and sing all of our favorite patriotic songs to honor God and country and give thanks for the American way of life. Bring a chair to the Norwood Town Common. In case of rain, the event will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church.

Norwood’s Fifty-Bell Memorial Carillon was cast by Gillett and Johnston, Bellfounders, Croydon, England, and, together with the Norwood Memorial Building and Tower, was dedicated on Armistice Day, November 11, 1928. The instrument was a gift to his fellow townspeople from the late Walter F. Tilton, a prominent local banker, and civic leader.

Tours of the bell tower are available after most concerts. Norwood’s Fifty-Bell Memorial Carillon was cast by Gillett and Johnston, Bellfounders, Croydon, England, and, together with the Norwood Memorial Building and Tower, was dedicated on Armistice Day, November 11, 1928. The instrument was a gift to his fellow townspeople from the late Walter F. Tilton, a prominent local banker, and civic leader.

Upcycled Mini-Bookshelf Craft

Make a mini DIY bookshelf! You will use boxes, cardboard, and miniatures to create a tiny version of your dream bookshelf. All materials will be provided, but supplies are limited, participants will be asked to be mindful of how many items they use (don’t take more than you need!)  You’ll leave this social crafting program with a personalized and custom mini bookshelf! Pre-printed book covers will be provided. If you would like to request specific book covers to include in your bookshelf, include them in your registration form (limit of 10 books max). In this interactive session, web designer Madeline Dunne (Sheridan Design Co.) will walk entrepreneurs through the essential elements of building an effective website, from layout and design to content and maintenance. Puzzle Race

Morrill Memorial Library

Love doing puzzles? Want to test your speed against others? Join us for a friendly puzzle face-off against other teams!

How does the race work?

Up to 8 teams will compete, with a maximum of 4 people per team. Feel free to name your team!

Families are welcome to come as a team; children aged 10+ will count as a team member.

One puzzle per team.

Puzzles will be 500 pieces and identical.

Race will kick off at 2:30pm and will end at 4pm. Please plan on arriving by 2:20 pm at the latest, so we can start on time.

The team with the most completed puzzle by the end of the race will be the winner, but everyone gets the bragging rights!

This program is free and open to all, but note that the difficulty level of the puzzle design is most suitable for tweens, teens and adults. Only one team member registers for the whole team. Press Here Grab and Go Activity Bag

This month’s Grab and Go Kit features the interactive picture book ‘Press Here,’ by Hervé Tullet, a playful and imaginative read that gets kids giggling, guessing, and engaging with every page! The kit includes hands-on activities inspired by the book’s creative prompts to extend the fun at home through open-ended, creative play. Kits will be available from July 13–19 and registration is required. Reserve just one kit per family. CFCE Grab and Go Kits are for children ages 2-6 with adult supervision and guidance.

Outdoor Storytime

Bond Street Tot Lot

9:30 a.m.

Join librarians from the Morrill Memorial Library under the big shady tree in the field next to the Bond Street Tot Lot for this active outdoor story time! Be sure to bring something to sit on, like beach/picnic blanket or chairs as this storytime has a grassy floor. We’ll read BIG books and do lots of movement activities to keep everyone engaged. 

Weather Concerns:
Rain: If it is actively raining, story time will take place in the Simoni Room on the second floor of the Morrill Memorial Library.
Heat: If the temperature is above 90 degrees before 10 AM, we›ll move story time indoors in the Simoni Room at the library. If it remains below 90 degrees in the morning, we›ll be outside at Bond Street. For all ages. 

Monday Movie Matinee: ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’

If you love movies and want to immerse yourself in unforgettable cinematic experiences, Morrill Memorial Library is the place to be! Kya is a young woman who raised herself in the North Carolina marshlands after being abandoned by her mother when she was a little girl. She feels detached from the small-town community near the marshes until two men show interest in her. However, when one of them later dies, she becomes the town’s prime suspect. Turn the Page Book Group-Remarkably Bright Creatures

Join Patty Bailey and other local readers for a friendly and informal discussion of the novel Remarkably Bright Creatures, written by Shelby Van Pelt. After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors--until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova. Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova’s son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old invertebrate body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late. Titles on Tap Book Group

Napper Tandy’s

7:30 p.m.

The title this month will be ‘The Death of Vivek Oji,’ by Akwaeke Emezi. Copies of the book will be available to pick up at the library’s Reference desk. The ebook and audiobook are instantly available through Libby. Titles on Tap is a social book group, sponsored by the Morrill Memorial Library, for readers in their 20s and 30s and for the young at heart. They go in for stories that are shaken, not stirred, and we don’t mind taking their love of lit outside the library walls. Titles on Tap meets once a month in the left-hand bar of Napper Tandy’s to eat, drink, be merry, and discuss the latest reading selection.

Norwood’s Dedham Granite Geology w/ Richard William Butts

Morrill Memorial Library

7 p.m.

Join geologist Richard William Butts for a presentation on the local geology of Norwood. One of the major bedrock units of Norwood and surrounding towns in eastern Massachusetts is known as the Dedham Granite. This presentation will show photographs of the Dedham Granite, describe where the photos were taken, explore the mineralogy and history of the Dedham Granite, and include the geologic context of the Dedham Granite.
