You’ll also have the chance to meet the book’s author, NHS student Peter Jeneid, snap a photo with Sally and Officer Baguma, and even purchase your very own copy of the book to take home. This is a wonderful way to enjoy the Storywalk, share some Norwood pride, and support a talented local author. To access the Storywalk, park in the Hawes Pool parking lot (1305 Washington St) and follow the gravel path to the entrance of the woods, where the Storywalk stretches over ¼ mile and 18 storyboards.

How to Prepare for Extreme Weather Events

The Morrill Memorial Library welcomes Joe Delli Carpini, the Science and Operations Officer at the National Weather Service’s Boston office in Norton, for “How to Prepare for Extreme Weather Events. The past year has seen a number of extreme weather events across the country, including devastating flash flooding, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Even though these extreme events are fairly rare in the Boston area, recent temperature and precipitation trends show the chances of experiencing an extreme weather event is increasing for our region. This presentation will show how to prepare for these types of events and where to find helpful online resources; it will review some recent storms as examples of what to prepare for. The event will also take a look at some of the global weather patterns that may affect the upcoming fall and winter in Norwood to provide more insight into the official NOAA outlook for the next several months. Puzzle Race

Love doing puzzles? Want to test your speed against others? Join us for a friendly puzzle face-off against other teams!

How does the race work?

Up to 8 teams will compete, with a maximum of 4 people per team. Feel free to name your team! Families are welcome to come as a team; children aged 10+ will count as a team member. One puzzle per team. Puzzles will be 500 pieces and identical. Race will kick off at 2:30pm and will end at 4pm. Please plan on arriving by 2:20 pm at the latest, so we can start on time. The team with the most completed puzzle by the end of the race will be the winner, but everyone gets the bragging rights!

This program is free and open to all, but note that the difficulty level of the puzzle design is most suitable for tweens, teens and adults. Only one team member registers for the whole team. Cryptocurrency Scams: Uncovering the Risks Behind the Hype

Dmitri Yakovlev: “Stopping Putin’s War”

The Morrill Memorial Library will host local tech COO Dmitri Yakovlev for an in-person presentation, “Stopping Putin’s War: What’s In the News and What’s Not.” Dmitri Yakovlev, a Muscovite who wholeheartedly supports Ukraine in her fight for freedom, will consider the question, “Can the war be stopped?” by examining the complex sociopolitical dimensions at work in Ukraine, Russia, the United States, and Europe. He will offer a side-by-side comparison of Russia and Ukraine in terms of their respective economies, militaries, politics, demographics, and other resources.
