Norwood Recreation Department Announces Inaugural Howl O’Ween Dog Parade
Sep 30, 2025 08:27AM ● By Michele TarantoA brand-new fall event has been unleashed on the Norwood Recreation Department’s jam-packed schedule! The inaugural Howl O’Ween Dog Parade is set for Saturday, Oct. 25, at 12:30 p.m. on the Norwood Town Common, and this time, it’s all about the pets.
Dogs (in costume, of course!) can stop by the Town Common 12:30-1:30 p.m., to have their photo taken by local photographer Jonathan Cardoni for entry into the costume contest. After that, the fun continues: from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., families are invited to stroll through downtown with their four-legged friends and collect treats especially for them. Participating businesses will be marked with a water bowl outside, and a full list will be available at the gazebo. All pets must be on leases for the entire event.
Norwood Recreation Department Program Coordinator Marie Duffy-Kidd shared that the event was designed not only to spotlight downtown businesses but also to expand the variety of recreation opportunities in town.
“My goal is to get more people involved in recreation department activities,” Duffy-Kidd said. “We have so many events for kids, but now you’ll see more options geared toward adults too. We’re here for all ages in the community.”
In addition to the dog parade and costume contest, several local non-profits will be on hand to share information about their causes. The event is also being hosted in partnership with the local women’s networking group Women in Business (MA).
Businesses interested in joining the Howl O’Ween festivities can contact Duffy-Kidd at [email protected]. The Recreation Department will provide the treats and water bowls, businesses just need to sign up, greet visitors, and maybe hand out a few pats along the way!
