Puzzle Race

Love doing puzzles? Want to test your speed against others? Join us for a friendly puzzle face-off against other teams!

How does the race work?

Up to 8 teams will compete, with a maximum of 4 people per team. Feel free to name your team! Families are welcome to come as a team; children aged 10+ will count as a team member. One puzzle per team. Puzzles will be 500 pieces and identical.

Race will kick off at 2:30pm and will end at 4pm. Please plan on arriving by 2:20 pm at the latest, so we can start on time.

The team with the most completed puzzle by the end of the race will be the winner, but everyone gets the bragging rights!

This program is free and open to all, but note that the difficulty level of the puzzle design is most suitable for tweens, teens and adults. Only one team member registers for the whole team. 5th Annual Pumpkin Float & Lantern Walk

Endean Ponds

Bring a carved pumpkin to set afloat at the event! Cub Scouts 49 will set a campfire to make s’mores. Then join the Norwood Trails Advisory Committee for a Lantern Walk in the woods. Food trucks will also be on site!

AR5K Race/Walk

Knights of Columbus, 572 Nichols St.

10 a.m. (check-in 8:30-9:30 a.m.). 

The race winds through scenic residential neighborhoods near the high school where Reardon graduated in 2019. Registration is $45. All registrants will receive a pair of AR5K sport socks, and AR5K will match the souvenir to the Pine Street Inn, in Boston. $250 will be awarded to the first male and female finishers. Kuang. Yellowface is a dark satire about June Hayward, a struggling white author who steals her recently deceased, successful Asian-American friend Athena Liu›s manuscript about Chinese laborers in WWI. June rebrands herself with a racially ambiguous name, Juniper Song, and publishes the stolen work, leading to a commentary on cultural appropriation, the racism and tokenism within the publishing and entertainment industries, and the overwhelming influence of social media. This is the launch of the library’s very first Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) Parent Book Club! This fall, the group will be reading Good Inside, by Dr. Becky Kennedy, a #1 New York Times bestseller that offers practical, compassionate strategies for raising resilient, connected children while also caring for yourself as a parent. At this family-friendly event, cars are decorated for Halloween and parked in one spot so children can walk from trunk to trunk collecting candy and goodies in a safe and fun environment.
