Swinging in Winter

Jan 28, 2026 09:43AM ● By Michele Taranto

While winter temperatures may quiet the Common, Norwood’s music scene remains vibrant. The Norwood Concerts on the Common Committee is bringing live entertainment indoors with its 2026 Winter Concert Series, a free, family-friendly tradition that celebrates both music and community. All concerts will take place Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Paul M. Alberta Performing Arts Center at Norwood High School.

This year’s lineup features some of the region’s most popular big bands and orchestras:

Jan. 25: She Bop Swing Orchestra

Feb. 1: Roy Scott Big Band

Feb. 8: Dan Gabel and His Orchestra

Feb. 15: Bare Bones Big Band

The Winter Concert Series is made possible through the generous support of local businesses, organizations, and community members.

Gold Baton sponsors include: Bank of Canton, Dedham Savings, Norwood Record, Norwood Women’s Club, Norwood Firefighters Local 1631, One Bistro/Hobbs Brook Real Estate LLC, Rockland Trust, and Dianne Shalbey/ROJO Company, Inc.

Supermarket, and Jeanne Vautour.

Concertgoers will also have the opportunity to participate in raffles, with prizes donated by Boston Beef, Brookside Café, Castle Island Brewing, Domino’s Pizza, Smokehouse BBQ, and The Feisty Greek. Proceeds help support the continuation of the concert series.

For those who cannot enjoy them live, Norwood Community Media is recording the concerts to ensure the performances can be enjoyed beyond the concert hall.

Norwood’s cultural scene is enriched by the dedication of the Concerts on the Common Committee, chaired by Bob Donnelly and supported by members Paul Eysie, Lisa O’Leary, David Tuttle, Olga Abdallah, Kevin Broderick, Kelly Farewell, Lee Leach, Dorothy Prevoir, Michael Rosen, Joe Dellicarpini, Tony Mazzucco, Patricia Schick, and Jeanne Vautour, whose efforts help bring live music to the community year-round.
