Recovery City: Documentary Re-Screening

The Morrill Memorial Library is offering a re-screening of the award-winning 2024 documentary ‘Recovery City.’ The screening will be immediately followed by a Q&A with director and producer Lisa Olivieri and the women who are featured in the film. Recovery City (2024, run time 96 minutes) is an award-winning documentary offering a raw exploration of what it means to be in recovery as seen through the eyes of four women whose lives share a common thread: addiction. Puzzle Race

Love doing puzzles? Want to test your speed against others? Join us for a friendly puzzle face-off against other teams! Up to 8 teams will compete, with a maximum of 4 people per team. Feel free to name your team! Families are welcome to come as a team; children aged 10+ will count as a team member. One puzzle per team. Puzzles will be 500 pieces and design will be the same. Race will kick off at 2:30pm and will end at 4pm. Please plan on arriving by 2:20 pm at the latest, so we can start on time. The team with the most completed puzzle by the end of the race will be the winner, but everyone gets the bragging rights! This program is free and open to all, but note that the difficulty level of the puzzle design is most suitable for tweens, teens and adults. Only one team member registers for the whole team. Wings (Whose is it?) Grab and Go

Discover the world of animal wings with the Grab and Go Literacy Bag featuring the book ‘Wings (Whose is it?),’ by Katrine Crow. This interactive guessing book invites children to look closely at colorful photographs of animal wings and try to figure out which creature they belong to before turning the page for the answer. Each bag includes the book along with simple, hands-on activities designed to build early literacy and observation skills while encouraging curiosity about nature. Bags will be available for pickup during library hours from Sun. April 12 through Sat. April 18. Please note, the book must be checked out with a library card and returned to the library, but you can keep all the other materials in the kit to continue the learning and fun anytime. Perfect for young readers and their families! We ask that you only request 1 bag per family. 

Wood Cup Hockey Game Fundraiser

The Skating Club of Boston, 750 University Ave., Norwood

A friendly rivalry will take center ice as the Norwood Fire Department takes on the Westwood Fire Department in the “Wood Cup” hockey game fundraiser. The event will also feature raffles, prizes, a chuck-a-puck contest, and an after-party, offering plenty of opportunities for the community to get involved. All proceeds will benefit PMC Team PFFM, supporting cancer research and patient care.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Storywalk

Looking for something to do over April Vacation? The staff at the Morrill Memorial Library is excited to feature The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle in the South Norwood StoryWalk®! Follow the beloved caterpillar as he munches his way through the week, discovering new foods and growing along the way. This interactive StoryWalk® encourages children to read, explore, and enjoy being active outdoors. The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be available for a Spring stroll starting April 19 through the month of May and June. The Storywalk is located at the entrance to the Endean Trail. You can park at Hawes Pool (1305 Washington Street) and follow the gravel path to the woods. The StoryWalk® stretches for about ¼ mile, includes 18 storyboards.
