Morrill Memorial Library hosts 4th Annual Halloween Costume Swap
This fall, the Morrill Memorial Library is once again giving Norwood families a way to celebrate Halloween while saving money, reducing waste, and making sure every child in the community has access to a costume.
The library's 4th Annual Halloween Costume Swap runs through Saturday, October 31, and is open for both donations and shopping during the library's regular hours. There is no single swap day-community members may stop by anytime the library is open to donate gently used costumes, browse the available selection, or do both. No donation is required to take a costume.
The Costume Swap promotes two important community goals: sustainability and equity. Reusing costumes keeps wearable items out of the waste stream and gives costumes that may otherwise sit unused in a closet the opportunity to be enjoyed by another child. At the same time, the Swap provides free costume options for children and families throughout Norwood, ensuring that the cost of a Halloween costume does not prevent a child from participating in the holiday.
How to Participate
The library welcomes gently used children's costumes from infant sizes through teen sizes, as well as family-friendly adult costumes. Costumes should be clean and in good condition, with no rips, tears, stains, or other damage. Regular clothing cannot be accepted.
To donate: Place costumes in the large collection bin in the hallway outside the Children's Room at the Morrill Memorial Library.
To shop: Browse the available costumes on portable coat racks located next to the donation bin. Families are welcome to select costumes whether or not they have donated one.
Any costumes remaining at the conclusion of the Swap will be donated to local organizations.
The Morrill Memorial Library encourages Norwood residents to clean out their closets, pass along costumes their families have outgrown, and help share the spooky spirit of the season with everyone in town.
