Friends of Norwood Center Elects New President


Friends of Norwood Center elected a new President at its annual meeting held in December at Emerald City Plant Shop, in Norwood Center. John Carbone received unanimous FNC Board election to serve as Presdient for the upcoming calendar year.
Carbone has been a Norwood resident for more than a decade and has served on FNC’s Board of Directors since 2017 and as its secretary for the last several years. A health service systems analyst by profession, Carbone believes a town’s downtown is its lifeblood and wants to do all he can to help and ensure that Norwood Center becomes more vibrant and thriving now and in the future. 
Carbone praised outgoing FNC President Charlotte Walsh and acknowledged tremendous strides that FNC made in the last two years, particularly in light of the pandemic. 
•New light pole flags and banners 
• Assistance to businesses for grant applications 
• Lead assistance for businesses’ social media and promotion for Norwood’s Rapid Recovery program
• Enhanced social media promotion of local businesses’ changing hours of operation
• Worked in successful partnership with the Town of Norwood and Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce  
•Norwood Feeds the Frontlines
• Successful First annual Fall Crawl, bringing one hundred people into four local establishments 
• Charlotte Walsh, proprietor of Charles River Running and FNC President in 2020 and 2021, will remain on the board and spearhead all social media initiatives.
Marci Pastorio, owner of the Juice Bar and Quontay Turner, owner of Emerald City Plant Shop were elected to the FNC Board. Carbone acknowledged the outstanding efforts of outgoing board members, Kim Weineck, Sara Coy-Lanard, Jeff Lanard and Elizabeth Sczerenie, owner of Structural Wellness Chiropractic & Wellness.
