Thursday Fun Club is just a space for kids to come to the library and do activities around a theme they enjoy! Each week’s program will focus on something different. Concerts on the Common

Annie Gao, from Irvine, CA, will be performing. Best listening spots are on the Town Common or in the upper parking lot behind the Town Hall off Central Street. Tours of the bell tower are available after most concerts. Rain or shine.

Women’s Business Networking Meeting, 8 a.m.
The Women’s Business Networking (WBN) group is a non-profit organization for women in business or residents of Norwood and surrounding towns. The group meet two mornings per month and in addition to providing referral business, the women share and support business ideas and community events/fundraisers. Norwood Farmers Market-Pet Day!
Town Common, 2-6 p.m.
Welcoming our four-legged friends to the Norwood Farmers Market! There will be nail cutting (cats must be in carriers), Morgan, a dog who loves when children read to her, non-profit organizations, a dog trainer, and more! Also, visit the Town Common to check out a variety of vendors, including farm stands, bakeries, fish, baseball cards, non-profit organizations, specialty foods, and more! There will be games for the kids and music. It’s all happening on Tuesdays on the town common!

Meet ‘n’ Greet w/ NPD Dog Mustang Sally

Come and meet Norwood Police Department’s first therapy dog officer, Mustang Sally! Sally and her human, Officer Geoff Baguma, will be on hand to share how Sally came to Norwood, what a police therapy dog does, and what Sally’s daily routine and training looks like. Then it will be time for the photo ops with Officer Baguma and Sally!  For families of all ages. Registration required. Norwood Woman’s Club Meeting

The Norwood Junior Woman’s Club is a women’s social group that serves the Norwood community.

Artist-in-Residence: Traveling to Haiti Through Haitian Arts
Morrill Memorial Library, 7 p.m.
“Traveling to Haiti Through Haitian Arts: Genesis, Evolutions, Perspectives,” is a lecture about the past and present forms of Haitian artwork, in the Simoni Room. Haitian art emerged internationally in the 1940s and blossomed thereafter, thanks to some distant connections with WWII and its cultural aftermath in Europe. Best known first for its most popular genre, “native painting,” it has since blossomed to incorporate different techniques and styles, including pop art, impressionism, cubism, and environmental art, while incorporating new experiences (natural disasters, environment, migration), without losing its Haitian essence. This lecture will cover the genesis, evolution, and current perspectives on Haitian art and will feature some artworks on-site. Registration required. Come to one of many special events at the Norwood Farmers Market this season! On Kids Day, the Market is partnering with the Norwood Recreation Department offering outdoor games and even spin art! Of course, the Town Common will be hopping with a variety of vendors, including farm stands, bakeries, fish, baseball cards, non-profit organizations, specialty foods, and more! There will be games for the kids and music. Meet your neighbors, purchase a fresh dinner, and have some fun!

Great Writers: A Look at the Life & Works of Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie is the most famous mystery writer in the world. In fact, the Guinness Book of World Records goes further and lists Christie as the best-selling novelist of all time. Her novels have sold roughly 2 billion copies, and her estate claims that her works come third in the rankings of the world’s most-widely published books, behind only Shakespeare’s works and the Bible. Who was this remarkable woman? How did she come to write her indelible works? Why is she still such a popular literary figure? Stuart Plumer Author Series: A Conversation with Anita Diamant

Anita Diamant will be in conversation with Library Director Clayton Cheever discussing her body of literary work. It will be in the form of a Q & A session. About the author: Anita Diamant is the author of thirteen books. Her most recent, published in 2021 is Period. End of Sentence: The New Chapter in the Fight for Menstrual Justice. Her first novel, New York Times bestseller, The Red Tent, was the winner of the 2001 Booksense Book of the Year.  It has been published in more than 25 countries. Titles on Tap is sponsored by the Morrill Memorial Library and the groups meets at Napper Tandy’s, in Norwood. Titles on Tap is a social book group for readers in their 20s and 30s and for the young at heart. We go in for stories that are shaken, not stirred, and we don’t mind taking our love of lit outside the library walls. Titles on Tap meets once a month in the left-hand bar of Napper Tandy’s to eat, drink, be merry, and discuss the latest reading selection.

Noticing and Naming Skin Color Story Time with Story Starters

This interactive story time will be presented by Story Starters and  include a  5-minute overview of Story Starters and their program offerings,  their read-aloud approach for caregivers, followed by a storytime geared toward children ages 3-5, and art project that reinforces the theme of noticing and naming skin colors.
