Rhododendron Needlers Quilt Guild Awards Scholarship to Norwood Resident

Lisa Steinka of Franklin, outgoing president of RNQG, Norwood High School Senior Meredith Graham, and Nancy Pond of Norwood, incoming president of RNQG, presenting the scholarship award to Meredith

The Rhododendron Needlers Quilt Guild (RNQG) is excited to announce their 2023 scholarship recipient is Meredith Graham, of Norwood High School. RNQG awards a scholarship to a high school senior pursuing a career in the arts, preferably textile.

Meredith will be attending the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. The guild is proud of her and wishes her all the best in her future studies and career.

Since the scholarship recipient is from Norwood, RNQG also makes a donation to that town’s public library, the Morrill Memorial Library, with the funds earmarked for the purchase of quilting related books or DVDs.

In addition to awarding both the scholarship and funds to the public library to a town in their member network, the guild’s philanthropy includes donating an average of 100 comfort quilts per year, through local social service agencies, as well as supporting the New England Quilt Museum. This year the guild selected Norwood as the recipient town for these awards as it was the town with the highest concentration of members.

RNQG has been in existence since 1983 and is currently 80 members strong, representing 35 towns around southeastern Mass. Guild meetings are the third Wednesday of each month, September through June, 7 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, in Walpole. Reference rnqg.org for specifics and consider joining the guild, now in its 40th year, to start or continue your quilting journey.
