Let’s Talk About It! Discussion Group

Morrill Memorial Library

7 p.m.

Let’s Talk About It! is a new monthly discussion group for community members interested in taking part in challenging but civil conversations, learning about misinformation and bias in reporting, sharpening their media literacy skills, and exploring new ways of thinking about different perspectives. Every month, group members will receive a short list of materials about a pre-selected topic to review. Then, during our meeting, we will talk about how to analyze information about that topic in context. Examples of topics we might cover include, but are not limited to: book bans and censorship, freedom of speech, bodily autonomy, wellness and medicine, unionization, artificial intelligence, filters and algorithms, etc. The goal is to encourage everyone to stop, think, and decide what they actually believe about a topic based on sound analytical principles and reliable sources, not to solve a problem, engage in arguments, or pinpoint “the Truth” about a given subject. This month’s topic is: Land Acknowledgments. Registration is required to receive the list of materials. To register, visit https://www.norwoodlibrary.org/morrillcalendar/ or call 781 769 0200, ext 2.
